This project had many construction concerns, the most daunting being the limited space for material staging. This was first realized with the lifting of the structural steel atop the existing 5 story building located adjacent to the FDR Drive . The steel erection had to be performed on weekends to minimize traffic concerns in the surrounding area. An existing penthouse had to be removed prior to the commencement of the steel placement. Two stories were added to the building for research laboratories while the third floor housed the new mechanical penthouse. The building's first floor required renovation as well as the conversion of parking garage space into usable laboratory space
